Chorus Stem Exchange

Every track of the session, not just the final mix.

Chorus Stem Exchange collects multitrack stems and sample packs recorded for remixing, mix practice and teaching. Each pack arrives as full-resolution WAV files, one file per instrument, ready to drop into any DAW.

What is in a pack

Packs are organised by recording session. Stems are aligned to bar one, share the same length and sample rate, and come with tempo and key noted in the file names.

Stems

Isolated instruments

Drums split by microphone, bass DI and amp, guitars, keys, vocals and room tracks, each as its own file.

Samples

One-shots and loops

Hits, fills and phrases cut from the same sessions, trimmed and named for quick auditioning.

Notes

Session sheets

A plain-text sheet with tempo, key, track list and the microphones used, so you know what you are hearing.

Why the files are large

A four-minute song recorded on thirty channels at 24-bit / 48 kHz is several gigabytes before anything is compressed. We keep stems uncompressed so that nothing is lost for mixing and analysis, which is why most packs are delivered as multi-gigabyte archives.

  1. Choose a pack

Check the stem list, tempo and size on the pack page.

  2. Download the archive

Archives are split into parts so an interrupted download only repeats one part.

  3. Check and unpack

Compare the published checksums, unpack, and import the folder into your DAW.

Questions

Which sample rate and bit depth are used?
Most packs are 24-bit / 48 kHz WAV. Packs recorded at other rates say so on their page; see formats.
Can I use the stems in my own releases?
Each pack page states how its material may be used. Packs made for practice and teaching are marked as such.
My download stopped. Do I start again?
No. Download only the missing part; the download guide explains how to check parts.
